The AirBike™ has been under development since 1984. The personal VTOL aircraft concept was submitted to American Inventors Corporation. File number 31848 was deemed unsuitable for representation by American inventors Corporation on June 5, 1987.

The concept was submitted to Invention Submission Corporation on October 27, 1989. Although our intention was to produce a personal VTOL aircraft, ISC would agree to process file number BN-2647 as a radio-controlled model only. Market and manufacturing feasibility studies were performed. Although the results of these studies were favorable, we chose to pursue the development of the RC vehicle as a test case for the eventual, full scale, craft.

A radio controlled scale model was created, in 1991, to test the concept and to develop the control method for the articulated vectoring nozzles. A few photos of the test craft, during various stages of construction, can be seen in the R&D Section.

On June 22, 1992, the Trade Name "Allied Aerotechnics" was incorporated in the state of New Hampshire.

Later that same month, "T"-Shirts sporting the Allied Aerotechnics logo, and a graphic depiction of the AirBike™, were offered through Cycle Newsmagazine. The ad ran for one issue, with little success.

In July of 1992, a patent attorney in Concord, New Hampshire was consulted regarding trademark registration for the name "AirBike". We were advised at that time to include the "™" symbol wherever the name AirBike was used in print. Since that time, we have become aware of the existence of an Ultra-Lite aircraft that also uses the AirBike name. Subsequently, we have not expended any additional resources to the registration of that name. However, since the two concepts are completely dissimilar, the existence of the AirBike Ultra-Lite will most likely not prevent our continued use of that name.
